Should every groomer have the same service times?

25 August 2026·1 min read

One service menu helps clients and staff speak the same language. One duration for every groomer can make the diary dishonest when experience, technique or accessibility changes the time required.

Keep the promise shared

Define what the service includes, the expected finish and the conditions that change its scope. Every qualified groomer delivering that service should work to the same care and quality standard.

The standard is the result and process boundary. Matching the fastest person's minutes is a different and usually unhelpful target.

Let time follow evidence

Set an initial duration by service and dog factors, then review actual work for each groomer. Adjust where a consistent pattern appears. Account for assistant support and equipment, because speed produced by extra resources does not belong to the groomer alone.

Temporary longer durations can also support training without hiding pressure inside the day.

Keep booking understandable

Clients only need the times they can book and a realistic completion promise. Internally, preserve enough detail to know why one person's availability differs.

Timing table: named service/dog type, person's recent median time, assistant minutes, dryer/table used, training status, client-facing completion promise and next review. Use a sample of ordinary work. A trainee's longer booking provides support while the standard stays the same.

Seglo note: Service and team settings can work together when calculating bookable time.
