How should dog groomers ask for reviews?

25 August 2026·2 min read

A review request should invite an honest account, not ask the client to repay good service with praise.

Choose a real moment

Ask after a completed visit when the owner has seen the dog and the handover is settled. If there is an unresolved concern, resolve it first rather than routing the client toward a public page.

Make the request short and direct. Say that their experience helps other owners understand the shop, then give one link.

Keep service separate from the review

Do not make a discount, gift or future care depend on a positive rating. Avoid asking only clients the team believes will leave five stars; feedback is useful because it shows the experience you actually create.

The owner should feel equally welcome whether they review, decline or say nothing.

Google's current Maps contribution policy prohibits incentives for reviews and selectively soliciting positive reviews. Ask a settled group by a neutral rule, such as every completed first visit after the owner has collected the dog.

Use feedback inside the shop

Share specific praise with the team and look for repeated friction in critical reviews. Respond calmly, protect private details and move account-specific resolution into a direct conversation.

A request system matters less than an experience worth describing: a clear booking, a thoughtful groom and a pickup that matched the promise.

For a negative review, reply once without publishing private visit detail: “I'm sorry the visit didn't match what you expected. We'd like to review the booking, agreed plan and result with you directly. Please contact [name] at [channel].” Then move the actual resolution off the public page.

Seglo note: Post-visit messages can make a review request timely without adding another manual list.
