Should you run one-to-one or parallel dog grooming?

One-to-one grooming gives one dog a clear line from arrival to pickup. Parallel grooming overlaps safe stages for several dogs. Neither model creates capacity by name alone.
Choose one-to-one when continuous handling, a quiet floor or a firm completion time matters. Use parallel flow only where people, equipment, supervised holding and dog suitability all support the overlap.
Put two dogs on a timeline

The example works only if the second dog, assistant, dryer and holding space are genuinely available. Put the real names and resources on your version. If one groomer appears in two active-care stages at once, the plan is fiction.
Exclude dogs before chasing overlap
One-to-one is the safer default for a dog needing continuous observation, a highly anxious first visit, work with unpredictable handling, or a visit where delay would make the care plan worse. Your own protocols decide the exclusions.
Parallel flow fits known dogs whose bath, dry or settling stage can overlap under clear supervision. Set a maximum number in progress and a stop point when a coat surprise uses the spare person or dryer.
Make the client promise match the model
One-to-one can support a firmer completion window. Parallel work may suit a drop-off and ready-message model. Explain what the owner is agreeing to rather than using “appointment time” for two different experiences.
