Do you need another person, or another dryer?

A person and a dryer solve different queues. Choosing from a feeling of busyness can add cost while the original constraint remains untouched.
Watch what waits
Track when dogs wait for equipment and when equipment waits for a skilled person. Include the bath, table, dryer, holding space, consultation and finishing work.
If groomers lose large blocks to delegable preparation while finishing demand is waiting, another pair of trained hands may release capacity. If a ready worker repeatedly waits for a dryer, equipment may be the stronger first move.
Model the next constraint
Draw the day after the investment. A new dryer needs power, space, maintenance, safe supervision and enough dogs at that stage. A new person needs recurring work, training, pay, equipment and management.
Estimate the work the whole system can add, not the headline speed of one stage.
Test before committing
Trial a changed running order, equipment hire, assistant shift or narrower service mix. Measure whether waiting actually falls and completed work rises without weakening care.
The best investment is the one the rest of the floor is ready to use.
Compare on one sheet: full purchase or employment cost, setup/training, weekly waiting removed, extra work the next stage can absorb, maintenance/leave, safety/space and payback. A $3,000 dryer that adds $150 of sustainable weekly return takes 20 working weeks to recover before finance and repairs. Use actual figures and test the bottleneck first.
