How do you decide which groomer can take which dog?

25 August 2026·1 min read

Availability means little when the available person can't safely deliver the booked work. Define eligibility by demonstrated service, coat, equipment and handling skills.

Keep “can do with support” separate from independent bookability. Update the record after training and observed work, not because the diary needs another slot today.

When a dog has a specific handling history, match both the groomer and the setup.

Use three states for each service/handling combination: independent, with named support, and training only. Evidence can include observed complete grooms, coat/finish range, equipment use, dog-handling boundaries, note quality and handover.

Skills card: service, coat/size, handling condition, status, required support, assessor, evidence/date and next review. Withdraw bookability after a material safety or quality concern; restore it through observed evidence rather than because the diary is busy.

Seglo note: Staff skills can shape who appears available for a service.
