Selecting a Xero organisation
Point Seglo at the right Xero organisation when connecting — confirm the org, why the payroll one matters, and how to switch later without losing your mappings.
Updated 19 July 2026
Seglo only ever syncs to one Xero organisation, so getting this screen right decides where every invoice, payment, and pay run lands. You reach it while connecting Xero — after you sign in and authorise Seglo — and a wrong choice here is the kind of thing you only notice weeks later when figures show up in the wrong company. This page is where you commit to the right one.
Open in app: Pay → Integrations (you reach the org screen by starting the Xero connection)
Confirm which organisation Seglo syncs to
After you sign in to Xero and authorise Seglo, the Select Xero Organization screen lists every organisation your Xero login can administer. Each row shows the organisation name with its type underneath, and the first one is already selected for you.
- Read the blue Tip banner. It points you at the organisation that has Xero Payroll enabled — usually the one where you run timesheets and pay runs.
- Pick the organisation you want. A tick appears on the row you choose.
- Click Connect Organization.
You see this screen even when your login can reach only one organisation — Seglo asks you to confirm rather than guessing. With a single org it is one click; the choice is already highlighted.
Pick the payroll-enabled organisation if you run pay
If you push pay runs through Xero, the organisation you choose here must be the one with Xero Payroll turned on. Several organisations can share a name and only one carries payroll, so read each name carefully — the list shows every organisation you can administer, not only the payroll-enabled one. Choose a payroll-disabled organisation and the payroll features stay unavailable until you reconnect to the right one. See Xero payroll sync for what payroll then does.
Let Seglo set up the region and accounts for you
You don't choose a region or a tax setting on this screen — Seglo reads them from the organisation you pick. The moment you connect, it detects whether the org is Australia, New Zealand, or the UK and sets a sensible default revenue account and tax type to match, so invoice sync works out of the box. You can fine-tune those later in the Xero setup wizard; the point is you're not asked to know account codes up front.
Let Seglo match your payroll calendar automatically
If you've already set a pay-schedule frequency in Seglo (weekly, fortnightly, monthly), connecting also tries to line up the matching Xero payroll calendar for you. When it finds a clean match, it's set and you skip a step. This is best-effort — if nothing matches, the connection still succeeds and you pick the calendar yourself later.
Switch to a different organisation later
You're not locked in. On the integrations page, the Change account button (the two-arrows icon next to your connection) re-runs the whole connection: you re-authorise with Xero and land back on this same selection screen to pick a different organisation. The reassuring part — your existing mappings are preserved. Employee links, earnings-rate mappings, and account settings carry across the switch, so changing org doesn't mean rebuilding everything.
This is the safe way to fix a wrong pick. Use Change account, not Disconnect — disconnecting deletes your mappings and revokes Seglo's access to every organisation, which means you'd start the whole setup from scratch.
Tips
- Finish in one sitting. The connection details that carry into this screen expire after five minutes. Sit too long and you'll see "Connection data has expired" — go back to Pay → Integrations and start the connection again.
- The first row is pre-selected, not confirmed. Connecting takes whichever row is ticked, so glance at it before you click Connect Organization — it's easy to confirm the wrong org on autopilot when several share a name.
- Wrong org already connected? Don't disconnect. Use Change account on the integrations page to re-pick — it keeps your mappings. Disconnecting wipes them and revokes access to all your orgs.
- No Xero Payroll on the org you picked? Payroll sync simply won't be available. Switch via Change account to the payroll-enabled organisation.
