Grooming Care
Set each pet's care cycle, see its suggested next groom and whether it's booked, follow up the pets that need it, and let Auto Book book the next groom.
Updated 18 September 2026
Every dog on your books needs grooming again at some point. Set how often, finish grooms as you normally do, and Seglo shows when each pet's next groom should be and whether it's booked. You only step in for the pets that need follow-up.
Open in app: Grooming Care · Auto Book · Grooming Care settings
Before you start
Grooming Care is included from the Starter plan. Staff need access to client records to open it.
Care is counted per pet: each pet has its own care cycle, last groom and suggested next groom. A visit, and its Auto Book, belongs to the owner, so one visit can bring several pets.
Set the care cycle
The care cycle is how often a pet should be groomed, such as every 6 weeks.
For one pet: open the owner from Clients → Directory, open the pet, and in its Grooming Care section choose Set care cycle (or Edit). Choose the weeks between grooms, or Use business default.
For your whole shop: open Settings → Grooming Care and set a Default care cycle. Pets without their own care cycle use it.
Saving a care cycle never creates a booking. If the pet already has a groom booked, you see that appointment. If it has a completed groom, you see its suggested next groom. If it has neither, the care cycle is kept and no date is shown until its first groom is done.
Finish grooms as usual
There's no extra step at checkout. When a groom is completed, it becomes the pet's last groom and the suggested next groom moves on: last groom plus the care cycle, shown as "Around 29 Oct".
Only completed grooms count. A no-show or a cancelled appointment leaves the last groom and the suggestion where they were.
Services that shouldn't restart the cycle
A nail trim between full grooms shouldn't push the next full groom back. Open the service from Catalog → Services and tick Doesn't reset the care cycle. Completing that service then leaves the pet's last groom and suggested next groom unchanged. Every service counts until you tick it. See Service catalog.
See what's next for a pet
The pet's Grooming Care section, and the Grooming Care summary at the bottom of a booking, show the same things:
- Care cycle, with Edit.
- Suggested next groom.
- Booked with the Next appointment, or Not booked.
- One main button: View appointment when a groom is booked, Book next groom when it isn't, or Set care cycle when there's no cycle yet.
Book next groom opens the booking form with the pet, its last service and the suggested date filled in. Check the time and confirm.
Any booking counts, however it was made: at the front desk, online by the owner, or by Auto Book. A booking later than the suggestion still shows Booked, with a note that it's later than the suggested grooming time.
Follow up the pets that need it
Open Clients → Grooming Care and choose Needs follow-up. Each row shows the pet, the owner, the suggested next groom, the booking if there is one, why it's on the list and one action. A pet is listed when:
- It isn't booked, and its suggested next groom has passed or is within the next 14 days.
- A booked groom was cancelled or missed and nothing replaced it. Same 14-day timing.
- Auto Book couldn't find a suitable time on the days it was allowed to book.
- Auto Book couldn't book the owner's pets together for one visit.
- Its booking is later than the suggested next groom. This shows straight away.
Use Book next groom or View appointment on the row, or contact the owner the way you usually do. A pet leaves the list once the reason is fixed, for example when a groom is booked. Sending a message doesn't clear it.
The other tabs are Booked, Care cycle not set, All pets and Auto Book. Search by pet or owner.
Change a care cycle
Choose Edit next to the care cycle and save. The suggested next groom is worked out again straight away.
Existing bookings are never moved or cancelled. If a booked groom is now later than the new suggestion, the pet shows that note and appears in Needs follow-up. To move the appointment, reschedule it as usual and agree the new time with the owner.
Let Auto Book book the next groom
Auto Book books an owner's next visit from each pet's care cycle, so nobody has to remember to rebook. Auto Book being on never makes a pet Booked. Only a confirmed appointment does.
At checkout: after the payment, Plan the next groom lets you choose the care cycle for the pets and start Auto Book in one tap. Each pet's current cycle is preselected, and your choice becomes that pet's care cycle.
From the owner's record: open the owner, go to the Auto Book section and set it up. It lists each pet with its own care cycle. To change how often a pet comes in, edit that pet's care cycle.
Owners can set it up themselves from their account for pets that already have a care cycle and a completed groom. They agree to Auto Book before it starts, and you're notified when it's turned on.
How Auto Book books
- Each pet keeps its own care cycle, even when pets share a visit.
- It books the suggested day. To give it room, open Settings → Grooming Care and set how many days before or after the suggested date Auto Book can book (0 to 14). With 0, it books the exact day.
- Pets come together when they're due close together. Another of the owner's pets on Auto Book joins the visit when its own suggested date is within that same number of days. With 0, they join only when due the same day.
- Together or not at all. If there's no time that fits all of them, nothing is booked for that visit and the pets show in Needs follow-up. Auto Book never splits them into separate bookings.
- It waits for the roster. A pet can be booked as soon as its last groom is completed. If that week's roster isn't published yet, Auto Book waits, then books when it opens.
- It never books over an existing appointment. If the pet already has a groom booked, Auto Book leaves it alone.
- Nothing is booked without a completed groom. A new pet waits until its first groom is done.
Appointments from Auto Book are confirmed straight away and paid at the visit. The owner is told when a groom is booked.
When a booked groom is cancelled
If an Auto Book appointment is cancelled or marked as a no-show, Auto Book doesn't book another one. The pet shows in Needs follow-up until someone books it or its next groom is completed. Rescheduling the appointment is not a cancellation, so the pet stays booked.
Pause or stop Auto Book
On the owner's record, open their Auto Book:
- Pause: nothing new is booked until you resume. Confirmed bookings stay, and you see them before confirming.
- Stop: Auto Book ends. Confirmed bookings stay. You can set it up again later.
Owners can turn Auto Book off and on from Auto Book in their account. Turning it off keeps their bookings too. See My bookings.
Archiving a pet takes it out of the owner's Auto Book. Archiving the last pet on it ends Auto Book. See Client profiles.
Good to know
- Owners can't change a care cycle, skip a groom or move a time from their account. They contact you, and you reschedule as usual.
- Seglo doesn't message owners when a suggested groom comes up. Use Needs follow-up to follow up yourself.
- Auto Book doesn't guarantee the same start time or groomer for every visit.
