Appointment photos

Attach before & after photos to a booking, keep some private, and send the rest to the customer by email or text — who sees a drag-to-compare slider on their booking page.

Updated 19 July 2026

Photograph the work you do on a booking — the before & after, the finished result, the repair — keep whatever you want private, and send the customer only the shots you choose. Customers see the photos you share on their own booking page, with paired before & after shots as a slider they can drag.

Open in app: open any booking from Schedule, find the photo strip in the booking detail, and tap Manage.

See a booking's photos at a glance

Every booking detail shows a small photo strip with a count. This strip is view-only — tap a thumbnail to enlarge it, but there are no editing controls cluttered over the tiles. A completed before & after pair shows as a single tile in the strip, not two.

To add, organise, share, or delete photos, tap Manage. Everything below happens inside the Manage photos sheet.

Add a photo

Inside Manage photos there are two sections, and where you add a photo decides who can see it:

  • Internal — tap Add photo under the Internal heading. The photo stays private to staff. Customers never see it.
  • Share with customer — tap Add photo under the Share heading. The photo is marked for the customer but is not sent yet — you still press the share button to deliver it.

Each appointment holds up to 10 photos across both sections. Photos process automatically after upload, and the original files are not kept.

Add a Before & After over two moments

A grooming or treatment before & after isn't taken at the same time — the before is at the start, the after is at the end. The Add Before & After flow is built for exactly that:

  1. In the Share with customer section, tap Add Before & After and take (or pick) the Before photo. The card now shows your Before with an Add After slot waiting.
  2. Carry on with the appointment. The Before sits in the Share section as a pending pair.
  3. When the work is done, reopen Manage photos, tap the Add After slot on that card, and add the After photo.

Once both halves are in, the card becomes a drag-to-compare slider — and that is exactly what the customer sees once you share it. The two photos stay linked as one pair.

You can also turn two photos you already uploaded into a pair: tap a photo in the Share with customer section and choose Set as Before or Set as After.

Set a photo as the pet's profile image

Tap any photo inside Manage photos to see its actions. If the booking has a pet (or vehicle, or child) profile attached, one of those actions is Set as profile image.

Tap it — no confirmation — and the photo becomes the profile picture for that recipient. You'll see a brief toast confirming the name ("Set as Bella's profile photo"). The image then shows in the "Who's this booking for?" picker the next time you create a booking for that client.

The action is available on every photo (Internal and Share). Only the profile attached to the appointment leg you're currently viewing is affected — for multi-pet bookings, switch legs via the navigation arrows to set a different pet's photo.

There's no remove option in this release; a new photo simply replaces the previous one when you set it again.

Move a photo between Internal and Share

Tap any photo inside Manage photos to open its actions:

  • Share with customer / Move to internal — flips which section the photo lives in. Moving a paired photo to Internal also unlinks its partner, so neither shows as a broken half.
  • Set as Before / Set as After — available on Share photos only (before & after is a customer-facing feature).
  • Set as profile image — sets this photo as the avatar for the appointment's pet/recipient profile (see above).
  • Delete image — removes the photo. Deleting one half of a pair leaves the other as a normal photo. Deleting a shared photo removes it from the customer's view immediately.

Send the photos to the customer

When the Share section holds everything you want to send, press the share button at the top of the section. A confirmation opens with a channel choice — Email or Text — pick one and confirm.

  • Email (the default, unchanged) sends the customer one email and one push notification with a link to their booking page.
  • Text sends the photos as an SMS/MMS from the business's own phone number — the same line used for two-way texting with customers. The first shared photo goes out as a picture message; if the batch has more than one photo, the text also includes a link so the customer can view the rest. If the business hasn't set up its own phone line for texting yet, Seglo sends the notification from its own Seglo number instead, with a link the customer signs in to on My bookings to view the photos — texting still works, just not from the business's own number and without the picture attached directly. The Text option only appears when the customer has a phone number on file; with none, only Email shows. If texting is temporarily unavailable for another reason (for example the business's number is paused), the send fails — use Email instead.

A few rules keep the send clean, on both channels:

  • Photos you've already sent are not re-sent. Mark more later and press the button again — only the additions notify the customer.
  • An incomplete before & after (a lone Before, or a lone After) is held back and not sent — finish the pair first, or move the lone photo out of Share. The sheet tells you which half is missing.
  • When there's nothing new to send, the share button is simply disabled.

For customers: viewing shared photos

When a business shares photos from your appointment, you get a notification by email and push (if you have the app). Open your booking from My bookings and look for the Photos section — it appears only once the business has shared at least one photo.

Tap any thumbnail to open the full view. A before & after pair shows as a comparison slider you can drag back and forth. Captions appear below each photo if staff added them.

To save a photo, long-press it (mobile) or right-click it (desktop) and use your device's normal save option. There's no bulk download or forwarding.

What's not supported in this version

  • Customer-uploaded photos
  • Video
  • Sharing photos to anyone other than the booking's customer
  • Bulk download

Tips

  • Customer not seeing photos? Check you pressed the share button — adding a photo to the Share section alone does not notify. Once pressed, the customer sees the photos on their booking page immediately.
  • Before & after slider not appearing for the customer? A pair only sends once both the Before and the After are in. A lone half is held back; finish the pair, then press share.
  • Notification didn't arrive? The customer's notification settings may have email or push turned off. The photos are always visible on their booking page regardless.
  • Want to un-share a photo? Open it in Manage photos and choose Move to internal. The customer loses access immediately; no notification is sent.
  • Customer says the text came from an unfamiliar number? If the business hasn't set up its own texting line, Seglo sends from its own Seglo number with a sign-in link instead — this is expected, not an error. Set up a phone line to send from the business's own number instead.
